Donate Used Books and Benefit the Adult Reading Center

The next time you clean off your bookshelves, donate your used books at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center. The books will be resold with 10% of the proceeds going to the Adult Reading Center.

The Adult Reading Center and The City of Pearland Parks and Recreation Department are partnering to offer a book reuse and recycling program. Pearland residents and surrounding communities can take used books to the Stella Roberts Recycling Center, located at 5800 Magnolia St. in Pearland. At the facility, the books will be accepted, sorted and distributed for resale or recycling. The receptacle for book donation is located in the front of the Stella Roberts facility and is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The donated books will be processed by Better World Books. Books that can be resold will be distributed to their virtual storefront, with 10 percent of the proceeds going to the Adult Reading Center. Books that cannot be resold will be recycled which will reduce paper waste in the community.

“Pearland residents need a place to donate books, and the accessibility of the Stella Roberts facility made it a logical location for a point of collection,” said Michelle Smith, Parks and Recreation Director. “The Adult Reading Center did not have the space necessary for collection and sorting on this scale, so they will benefit in a meaningful way from this partnership and our community will be better served,” she said.
